will not be returned until our voices are heard, until varsity athletics
serves the ENTIRE student body, and until all 41 varsity sports are
guaranteed a home at MIT. We may, however be willing to return select body
parts in exchange for another year of competition for all 41 varsity
teams...
We are not afraid to use force, as evidenced by our actions in this eye

Have these people ever heard of a budget? It's not like the administration woke up one day and said, "Hey, you know what would piss off students? Canceling varsity sports!!!" There's a recession, so some rich alumni are no longer rich, and therefore not giving as much money to MIT. MIT therefore has to cut its budget. It can chose to forgo tenure for new professors, or take away UROP money, or stop constructing that new cancer institute. But instead of killing anything academic-related, it's obviously going to cut into superfluous things like sports first. This is a research institution god damn it.
They're not doing it because they hate you. They're not doing it to take away your rights. They're doing it because they don't have any money. If you want your damn sports back, go join the TechCallers and convince alumni who may or may not be in the process of losing their jobs to cough up the 1.5 million dollars a year it costs to keep these sports teams going.
On a related note: most MIT sports teams, with few exceptions like pistol and crew, suck.
Another note: that YouTube video they link is absolutely horrible. I want those 54 seconds of my life back. |

Except we've already established that they're not hiring anyone and probably laying off as many people as possible. |

So... they kidnapped a beaver I care nothing about to save some varsity teams I care nothing about?

Oh no, not Tim the Beaver!
I didn't watch the video. Is he wearing a black hood in it? _________________ ' What I'm thinking in my head is, 'Well, the truth is, Brian, we can't solve global warming because I f---ing changed light bulbs in my house. It's because of something collective'. |

Also, when you request Tim the Beaver for your event, you have to sign a form saying that if you fail to return the costume, CAC can charge you the $500 or so that it costs to order a new beaver costume. So whoever signed his/her name to that piece of paper will have to pay a ridiculous amount of money for MIT to order a new costume and it won't do a thing to bring back varsity sports. |

It's pretty easy to find other people's account numbers, though. For example, the account number associated with daper.mit.edu is 1670600. I have no idea if that's what they did, but it seems like the sort of thing that could seem like a good idea to the sort of extreme idiots who would pulled this sort of stunt. |

So you make a fake card, change your card number, or write whatever the hell you want in that box. |
