Yes, but children do not need to be fed on a park bench, they can be fed in private.

People need to have sex to have children in the first place, that doesn't need to be done on a park bench either.

Private things are private.

Oh, and we're not even talking about the act in this case. It's a picture of the act on Facebook. Clearly children are not being fed by pictures on Facebook, they were already fed. It is no longer necessary to make public displays at that point.

What you're suggesting is incredibly inconvenient. Babies need to eat and they need to eat often. Even the house-wifeyest of women need to leave the house and do errands, and when they do, they take their babies with them. If they're in a store with groceries in their cart and a couple of toddlers trailing behind them, should they have to drop everything and head to bathroom?

You men are pigs, and just because you can't stand the sight of a naked breast in public, you consign women to either do their mothering in the shadows or never go out in public.

Also, what Liza is describing is called "Lactivism."

Yes, they should drop everything (what does that even mean?) and go to the bathroom if they can.

Many bodily functions require you to "drop everything" and go to the bathroom. No one is suggesting you should get to do those in the middle of an aisle in a grocery store because you happen to have an infant.

But I understand it's hard, so that's fine that they do it in public. However, there are certainly times where they do not need to. Like when they do not have other children and can go to a bathroom to do it, they should.

And again, THIS IS ABOUT PICTURES ON FACEBOOK.

I understand that people consider it necessary to breast feed in public. That's fine, I am okay with that. There is no reason that PICTURES OF IT that violate Facebook rules (no breasts) need to be in profiles.

The fact that you think that breastfeeding is a private activity is what these women are trying to change. As I said, it's called lactivism, and by posting such pictures online and by breastfeeding in prominent public places, they are seeking to show people like you that breastfeeding is not ZOMGPORNOGRAPHICLOOKAWAY!!!!!, it's what breasts are for. Just because men (and women) find breasts sexually stimulating does not mean that women should be stopped from using breasts for their true purpose. Just because some people think it's "icky" that a baby human is ingesting fluids from a grown-up human, a bodily function that you seem to think is as private as sex and defecation, doesn't mean that women should be stopped from breastfeeding in public.

The point of all of this is that many women who are able to breastfeed do not because they share your views or they are uncomfortable breastfeeding in areas that are not explicitly breastfeeding friendly. It will be a better country, and we will have healthier babies when breastfeeding is acceptable everywhere and no one looks askance at a mother trying to nourish her child in the best way possible.

And you are seriously pissing me off when you accuse me of things that I didn't do. "people like you" what? I didn't say it was pornography. I said that Facebook had a no breasts policy, which would preclude breastfeeding profile pictures. None of that is saying breastfeeding is pornography and (likely) in the cases we are discussing it is not.
