I'll be updating live as I work on my paper tonight that is due tomorrow morning. I will probably post some questions concerning DOOMPhrases, and if you care to help, I'd appreciate it.

As soon as she's done, I'd imagine.

Are you saying that this epic paper isn't going to be made DOOMPublic?

I guess it will have to be now...

By the way, are "accurate and precise" and its variants quoting something, or is it just a distinction we make because we're a scientifically-oriented community?

Also, I just searched for "it's bold, but is it daring?"

My whole world is falling apart (i.e. coming together).

Accurate and precise is a DOOMOriginal. I liked to use it because of a display in high school chemistry explaining accuracy, precision, and the combination which involved a picture of arrows on an archery target.

It's along the same line as hydrodynamic but not necessarily aquadynamic.

That was from a Doritos commercial.

You have to be careful about causation. Is our phrase because of a Doritos commercial, or is the Doritos commercial because of our phrase.

This idea is tackled in the epic tale "Ender's Game" by our good Latter-Day Saint friend Orson Scott Card.

Another question: "Really more of a turtle." Where does it come from?

My current progression is "More of a B" --> "Really more of a __something__" --> "Really more of a turtle"

And what does "Really more of a turtle" actually mean? Or when is it said?

Really more of a boxturtle.

The correct phrase is "really more of a boxturtle." Hence the picture of a boxturtle. It can be used in the following way:

This thread is Really more of a boxturtle. .

The explanation I've been given is that it translates to roughly the following: "You said A is like B, when in fact A is more like something else."

I'm still interested in the progression from the original futurama quote. Does anyone remember why it's a boxturtle?

I've also been suggested that "Woah, woah, wait" and its variations entered DOOMCom via Vernon, quoting the character Tony Wonder from Arrested Development.

This seems odd, considering that I remember variations of "wait" from my first encounters with DOOMCom.

Thoughts?
