So WoW in China was run by a company called The9 for the past few years, they ran the servers for Blizzard, etc. Blizzard ended their deal and was planning on, I think, running it themselves following the launch of Wrath of the Lich King in China (which still hasn't happened yet, I guess they're still removing skeletons).
Our good friends The9 however are not too happy with giving up their cash cow, and are holding the 5 million Chinese WoW accounts hostage, and aren't going to give up the data to whoever takes over managing the accounts in China.
That's probably worse than actually kidnapping 5 million people, I think. |

Those The9 people are going to end up getting shot in the streets. They should really reconsider.

I guess China WoW has been offline for six weeks and has no re-release date. Offline "indefinitely." All the WoW China people moved to Taiwanese servers.
Which is funny since there is only one China. And China hates Taiwan. |

Meanwhile, Taiwanese businessmen are moving most of their investments to the Mainland. By 2016, Taiwan's probably gonna be a SAR like Hong Kong. |
