So, as some of you know, I'll likely have fairly limited access to the interweb for the next two weeks. I have now signed a lease for an apartment in Boulder, Colorado, purchased cheap furniture (pro tip: even cheap furniture is kinda expensive), and gotten the utilities up and running.
I could not, however, get Comcast to come and turn on my cable/internet until July 13 (damn you Comcast!). I'll still have my phone, and maybe I'll look into using the computers at school from time to time... we'll see what happens. So, I'll be spending the next two weeks putting tables together and reading a lot.
I will speak to my first impressions of Boulder. The first thing is the geography. Now, I don't even like outside, but I will say that the sights are a little impressive. The biggest difference between here and Boston is that you can see much farther. The buildings are shorter, and the land is expansive. In the other direction, there are some sort of mountains. These are relatively small mountains on the western border of Boulder. They are all a rocky brown with some tree cover. From the higher points in town, you can see the real Rockies behind... the snow-capped ones. I'm not so familiar with mountains, but it is kind of cool.
One also can't help but notice the people: they're all in good shape and they're all very nice. Hippies abound, and everyone recycles. I've seen not just one but three different cars with "OLD WHITE WOMEN FOR OBAMA" stickers.
That's all I've got for the moment... I'll be checking the forums from time to time over the next two weeks. I can always be reached by phone, txt, and probably IM once I install the right app. Feel free to contact me incase of emergency (zomg, does David Lewis' counterfactual conception of causation have the result that the glass' having the quality of being fragile cause the glass to break!?)... I'll be around.

Mildly relevant: I too will be in Boulder, from July 10th through through the 22nd. Yay! |

Does this mean you're finally free of your advisor's claws? |
