So from what I can tell, most Pagans (except for the White Supremacist ones) are supposed to honor New World soil with respect to Native American beliefs. For instance, although it was a common Celtic practice to dump wine on the ground as a sacrifice to the gods, this is apparently a desecration in Native American belief. CRPs either don't do this or take special care to work around the desecration... |

That's interesting. While I'd like to get together with a native american shaman of some sort eventually to discuss belief structures, I don't think I would really let them tell me what to do.
Wiccans don't really care, to be honest. We'll dump our booze where ever. I have picked up a couple things from native american practices, but they ALSO seem to believe that anything we do that they did first is stealing. That's pretty much everything when you're talking about a 60 year old religion like Wicca, so it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.
I don't know any Native Americans who would instruct me in what I'm doing wrong, nor do I feel like I would listen to any "most Pagans" who wanted to tell me what I was "supposed to honor". I haven't had any complaints from any spirits, and I'm just as likely to let a Lakota medicine man tell me what to do as I am to let a Lutheran priest (Minister?). This is the joy of eclectic Wicca.
But seriously, which native american belief system says dumping wine is a desecration? I'd be shocked if all of them did. _________________ ' What I'm thinking in my head is, 'Well, the truth is, Brian, we can't solve global warming because I f---ing changed light bulbs in my house. Umm...Native Americans are practical and love alcohol. My uncle is a drunk Indian guy. He has the long hair and dark skin and everything.
I think they go with pastor or minister, those wacky Lutherans. |
