The Blizzard Regional Finals tournament (it decides what teams go to Blizzcon to represent the US, the EU, Korea, etc. in the global finals of WoW and WC3) is on at the moment. And they're showing an extended preview (20 minutes and still going) of Starcraft 2 with units and unit counters and gameplay. It looks fantastic. Why aren't we playing it right now?

Even the pylons are amazing.

And there are freaking mutalisks EVERYWHERE.

Oh god an actual match.

Zerglings, destructible rocks, watchtowers, stalkers, nullfiers, what is going on?

Protoss still incredibly overpowered.

Nullifiers are fucking overpowered. They can drop this bubble on the ground that prevents units from moving by, so you can just drop it on a ramp and nothing can get by. And they're a protoss starting unit or a cybernetics core unit.

And there's an early protoss melee unit that can warp, so you just do that nonsense where you warp the front one to the back if it's focused so the enemy has to retarget and never kills anything.

Their starting flying unit can lift a ground unit into the air and hold it there helpless for another flyer to kill it via air to air attacks.

This game is amazing.

Hot zerg mind-control action.

Ugh, they cut to WoW tournament. I wanted to see the end of that match.

Protoss are overpowered. But that gameplay is as hot as it possible could be. Where's the Terran?

That was pretty fucking incredible. Makes me feel bad because there's no way I could ever, ever micro like that protoss player.

So I guess the bubble things, if you cast them at the same time, automatically position like that?

But yes, he was all over the place.

And the game is very good looking.

I was curious about the forcefields, too. They definitely seemed to cast simultaneously in a wall-like fashion. I wonder how exactly that works.

but seriously, that protoss player micro was incredible. The zerg guy had his moments as well and I thought he was going to win right up until the end when it became incredibly apparent how out-econned he was.

I think that it might be the case that you require more vespene gas.

Apparently if you are in Cologne, Germany, you could just go down to the convention center and play Starcraft 2 at the event.

Lucky bastards.
