Single player demo is on fileplanet. Game is installing now.
For those of you who are unaware: basically a diablo-like by some former Blizzard employees, set in the near future with partial first person game play depending on your class.

Depending on your class? That seems odd.
There's a ranged marksman class where you play the game more like a shooter. I know the melee classes play in a more top-down perspective.... not sure about the mages. I'll be playing shortly.

That's pretty crazy actually, from a design standpoint.
Yeah.... that's what I've heard, at least. God knows if it actually pans out like that, I jsut played a little with one of the melee dudes and it was a rather 3rd person view. So, could be what I heard was wrong.
However, reeling demons in with a grappling hook gun and hitting them with a sword is fun.

What's that Warcraft III mini-game Eli was playing online with those pudgy guys and hooks? Pudge Wars?
Sounds about the same.
Haven't played that one and probably never will.
This game is turning out to be a lot of fun... beat the demo and I am desiring of more. That's about the best review I feel confident in giving for any game. I will definitely buy this thing.
Plus, it's full of all kinds of references to other things. My marksman dual-wields bolt pistols. The... melee class whose name I can't remember, I have one who fights zombies with a cricket bat and some kid named Wart's peg leg. Plus, I killed a sumatran rat monkey.... it's from one of Peter Jackson's horror comedies.
Even on the low settings I'm using, the graphics are good, the aesthetic is nice, and the first/third person camera angle really adds a lot to the diablo-style gameplay. Plus, loot. I'm a little disappointed with some of the skills as presented, but, meh. I've always been kind of disappointed with the diablo-style skill system so there's no surprise there.
So I bought the game. Coincidentally, I also have this next week off from work.
You'll be getting reviews and shit soon, oh yes.
Let's hear about those targeted adds. _________________ When I am weaker than you, I ask you for freedom because that is according to your principles; when I am stronger than you, I take away your freedom because that is according to my principles.

I keep seeing nvidia and dark horse advertisements. I think those are targeted, not positive.
Now...
I think ads are more effective when they are trying to get you to buy stuff you don't already have, not stuff you already buy anyways. But I don't find them disruptive or anything, the game world is pretty modern so they fit right in... and they only have them in the subway stations that are the hubs between missions.

Well, canceled my WoW subscription and switched it over to Hellgate.
It's a cheaper subscription, but... I'm not really getting a whole lot for it besides holiday events so far it seems. They have big things in the works, so says Bill Roper. Plans for Stonehenge at the end of the month is what I heard.
What does Blizzard have to say about this?
"We at Blizzard are extremely proud of the experience available in World of Warcraft and we are sorry to hear that another company has lured you away with their gaudy baubles and promises."
WoW > Hellgate London (London tends to be full of British people, unlike Ironforge)
This is what game-related advertising should look like:

I still can't believe that commercial. I've never seen it on live TV and I believe if I did I just might resubscribe.
