Apparently our good friend Al went to Julliard and played Jazz back in the 40s, and I am currently adding a CD to our collection that has him playing on it.
Wikipedia says he loves Ayn Rand, too. Gross. |

Ayn Rand... why do people love her so much?
Atlas Shrugged wasn't even that good. _________________ When I am weaker than you, I ask you for freedom because that is according to your principles; when I am stronger than you, I take away your freedom because that is according to my principles.

It was long and pseudo-philosophical/academic/revolutionary. Smart people eat that up with the world's largest spoon.

Aren't you afraid you'll catch Objectivism if you listen to that? _________________ ' What I'm thinking in my head is, 'Well, the truth is, Brian, we can't solve global warming because I f---ing changed light bulbs in my house. It's because of something collective'. |

I've only read the Fountainhead, which I found to be very good. Well written, thought-provoking and entertaining.
However, people tell me that Atlas Shrugged is way more preachy and the lesser work as compared literarily. Is there really some crazy unexpected scene where a mountain opens up and there are alien ships underneath? |

Have you read that series by Terry Goodkind? Faith of the Fallen (I think) is Atlas Shrugged. Or Fountainhead. Something like that. |

Yeah, I read something similar a few days ago.

Also, the masses are not who she's extolling. Is there a single Howard Roark among them? Unlikely. |
