Turns out, Chinese has a lot of characters. I can't believe they let the parents get away with that to begin with. In Russia, if the name you want for your child isn't on the list of first names the government approves, you don't get issued a birth certificate.

Hmm, I thought it was Dré Bly as in short for André.

Also, Emily's parents originally wanted to name here X4&iqa. As it turns out, the US government doesn't play that game.

True story.

That is a very unusual...name? Does it even count as such a thing?

Yeah, it is short for André but it's always written Dre' in articles and such.

There's Le'ron McClain as well.

Oh and this beast:

and its associated scholarly (Harvard) article:

Are you saying Harvard is more scholarly than NPR?

I was just joking, but... you seem in awe of their scholaritude. It's that intense?

Not at all, but NPR isn't particularly scholarly. It's intelligent, but that's not the same thing.

The undergraduates at Harvard are nothing special (from an MIT perspective).

Why would they do that? Is it some sort of hippie code?

Ah, good, then everything conforms to expectations.
