I actually wouldn't have expected any of the main actors to have come from slums themselves. How did they even find that girl in the first place? |

| I believe we watched the Academy Awards, and saw that the girl and the boys were in fact from the slums, and returned to them. They had a little piece where the director or whatever tried to make it sound like they had paid them fairly. They also said there was some kind of trust for when they graduated high school, and that their school expenses were paid through the age of 18 or something. |

Fair enough. I still don't understand why they would do that though. Why wouldn't they have just gotten regular child actors? |

Because these kids look like what they're supposed to look like. You'd have to starve real kids for months to get them to look right. |
