| I thought so at first... but I obviously have a certain empathy for Francine. And now the alien (Roger) is a fantastic character. Tiny bites of surrealist humor... exactly the right amount... so great. |

It's certainly better now than it was in the beginning, I'll give you that. Roger still annoys the hell out of me. Still.
The dressup contest was amusing in one of the last few episodes, however.

I'm not sure I can support shows that start of that slowly. For example, the first episode of Stargate: SG1 is monstrously boring and horrible. I turned it off after 8 painful minutes.
I feel like a good show should at least show flashes of greatness in its first season. Of course its peak will usually be season 2 or 3 through 5 to 7, that's just life. But it shouldn't be such that if you are re-watching it, you skip the first two seasons.
I haven't seen all of Deep Space 9, but I know that Alex skipped the first couple seasons when he re-watched it. That is a huge red flag for a show. I understand that the rest of it is great, but if you're just dismissing whole seasons, there's a problem.
The Wire, The West Wing, Weeds, I wouldn't skip a minute of any of them. |

So, Stargate is a terrible show. DS9, on the other hand... fantastic. And I would guess he skipped the first few episodes because they're about establishing the characters... I kind of feel like you have to give the writers a little time to figure out exactly what they're doing before you judge a show... especially since the pilot and first few episodes can be written years before they ever hit the screen... that's where you can see a real disconnect, imo. |

He didn't skip episodes, he skipped seasons. Same thing with TNG.
If you watch The Wire, it hits the ground running as hard as any show has ever done so. Just another in the long line of reasons it's the best show ever made. |

I have to say, the more Family Guy I watch, the more I like American Dad. American Dad is definitely a better show. Much better.

No, it does so because Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer are amazing. It's certainly my favorite Adult Swim show ever, Seth MacFarlane has nothing to with most of those.

Seriously. Could they have picked a less compelling character? Not that I think this would be a good idea, but a Quagmire show would certainly draw a bigger audience...
I wonder if they are trying to appeal to an ethnic demographic or something. God. I hope not.
