I'm more excited about this than I was about losing my virginity. Coincidentally, I'm probably just as prepared for this, too. |

I read his wikipedia article again today and this was on there:
"Stover is one of the most controversial authors in the Star Wars Expanded Universe. His three Star Wars novels are much more violent and morally ambiguous than most other Star Wars works, a fact that has earned him both avid fans and relentless detractors."
Having read almost every adult Star Wars novel (14 to go!), I can say that his books are light years ahead of all of the rest. Traitor was by far the best novel of all 120 or whatever it is. If only he had been there to shape the development from the beginning of the Expanded Universe. Everything was far too black and white before he took over. |

What can I say? Stover is a master. If you can, try reading the book Star Wars on Trial (I think that's what it's called) where he defends the legitimacy of the two trilogies as meaningful, artistic stories. There's a lot of essays that aren't him, but he has some very interesting, morally gray points that enhance the stories without changing anything about them.
Just a different paradigm, I suppose. |

I should really take the day off and read it all in one go. I need more similes and knifings and ridiculous badassery in my life. |

I think the quality of a book directly correlates to the amount of cripple violence contained inside it. Especially when the cripple is the one perpetuating the violence. |

Yes, it should be on the shelf before they open. I need to find a bookstore that will be open before 9pm.
Edit: Borders in Back Bay opens at 8 am. Check and mate. I'm waiting at the door. Then skipping work. |

Alright, took the day off.
Maybe you don't realize this, but I have been waiting SEVEN YEARS for this book.
SEVEN FUCKING YEARS.
Apparently Orbek's gonna be a major part of this book, that's kinda cool. Caine and Orbek, the world's worst buddy duo.
Seriously, you cannot possibly understand how excited I am about this. |

I'm not as excited as you, obviously. But after reading his New Jedi Order book which was by far the best Star Wars book, a thousand times better than all the rest at least, including his own other book, I've come to reach a high level of anticipation.
Caine is the fucking man. My question is, how low can the man be brought? |
