So I went into the Math Office today and on the course admin's desk was an email from the department head that happened to list the institute average GPA for undergrads as well as grade distributions.
Apparently the 2006 institute average GPA was 4.29 (up from 4.10 in 1991), and 48% of all grades were A's, 38% B's, 7% C's.
Also the math department gives twice as many C's as the institute average, although I don't know whether that means they give less B's or less D's and F's, the statement didn't indicate either way.

| Was that on a 4.0 or 5.0 scale? If it's out of a 5.0 scale, that means the average GPA is just short of a D+. |
