I can't say that I'm completely sure where he's going with this:
Quote:
Schwartz told the crowd about Jim Johnson, a friend of his who turned an old hotel into a hospice for gay men dying of AIDS. “One of the things he said to me,” said Schwartz, “that I think is an astonishingly insightful remark… he said ‘All pornography is homosexual pornography, because all pornography turns your sexual drive inwards.”
What does any of that even mean?

It's pretty obvious if you read the next thing he says:
Quote:
Now, think about that,” said Schwartz. “And if you tell an -year-old boy about that, do you think he’s going to want to get a copy of Playboy? I’m pretty sure he’ll lose interest. That’s the last thing he wants! You know, that’s a good comment, it’s a good point, and it’s a good thing to teach young people.
He's trying to make boys hate pornography, something they like, by associating it with homosexuality, something he believes they don't.

Yeah, it seems pretty out there. I was thinking about it, and perhaps you can sort of make his argument (i.e., porn makes you gay) more valid if you assume that "turning your sexual drive inwards" equates to masturbation. (And masturbation makes you gay, etc. etc.) His argument does beg the question of whether porn makes you gay if you don't watch it alone, though.
His argument is not that masturbation is gay, it's that if you tell young boys that it is, they won't want to do it.
Also, please look up what "begs the question" means.

Didn't we have a discussion during the debates about how everyone uses that phrase incorrectly?
I don't remember... It's kind of like "disingenuous;" the "incorrect" usage is now often considered to be correct (colloquially and formally). There are plenty of differences though. And it always sounds a little wrong to me when people use "disingenuous" to mean "not genuine."
