So, late last night, for reasons I cannot explain, I decided to post on the forums of Sean Hannity (show on Fox News, liar, jackass, all around monster).
I knew what I would find... and yet I wasn't prepared for the level of ignorance actually represented there. It was downright scary what people were saying on those forums. Not just the xenophobia and regurgitation of republican media campaigns (list of that forum's most used words: socialist, socialism, socialized, nazi, racist, the, a...)
I tried, I really did, but when someone tried to say that public healthcare would deprive him of his right to 'life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness and the pursuit of happiness as guaranteed by the Constitution'... it was just too much, and I had to call it a day.
It's funny, because Sean Hannity's motto (Glenn Beck and other conservative commentators say similar things) is that he helps to create 'educated voters.'

Why did I follow that link? It's always good to read articles telling me that having a penis makes me an evil drunk rape machine.

You know, I followed the same link (I'd never heard of the site before), and had much the same reaction.

One last look, and I found a gem worth posting (from a thread full of the evils of socialism... as well as calling liberals socialists, Marxists, and maybe terrorists... oh, and one guy said he would give his life to kill a theoretical socialist president):

After spending another day not being maimed or killed at work thanks to the workplace regulations imposed by the department of labor and the occupational safety and health administration, enjoying another two meals which again do not kill me because of the USDA, I drive my NHTSA car back home on the DOT roads, to my house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and fire marshal's inspection, and which has not been plundered of all it's valuables thanks to the local police department.
I then log on to the internet which was developed by the defense advanced research projects administration and post on freerepublic.com and fox news forums about how SOCIALISM in medicine is BAD because the government can't do anything right. |
