So apparently the Music department at Harvard admitted 5 grad students this year, 4 accepted.
Last year they had 12 accept, and the year before, they had 17. Meaning they admitted at least that number if not more.
Apparently they're severely cutting down on grad spots across the entire University, to save money.
This is the worst idea in the history of bad ideas in the area of cost-cutting at a university. Aside from professors, these are the only people that actually matter at these places. I know they're (sort of) expensive, but come the fuck on.
What a terrible idea.
Also those percentage drops in admittance are huge. I can see cutting a few spots, but almost all of them? Why does Harvard (and I have to assume every other college) hate learning? |

Because they like money more. And who can blame them? |

Look, it costs half a million dollars to get a graduate student from beginning to PhD. |

They're the only reason to have a university. You might as well close the place down for 5 years and just sit on the endowment. |
